Salesforce closes Fin. Zendesk ships Specialized Agents.
Salesforce completed its acquisition of Fin on 10 September. That is the deal Salesforce signed on 15 June for about $3.6 billion, and it closed months earlier than the fiscal Q4 2027 window the companies had pointed to when they announced.
Salesforce's press release says Fin (formerly Intercom) brings a customer agent platform and a team into Salesforce, plus a customer base Salesforce puts at more than 30,000 companies. The same release cites Fin's own average resolution rate of 76% across chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice, and Slack. Treat that number as a vendor claim, the same way we treated it in the 19 Aug issue.
A day later, Salesforce expanded Agentforce with a portfolio of job-ready agents for service, sales, commerce, IT and HR, and the back office. Fin sits in that lineup as the customer agent, powered by Operator and Fin Apex, and listed as generally available now. Salesforce also published its own customer figures for other agents in that story (Engine, Perk, Autism Queensland, Hibbett, Asana, Anthropic). Those are customer case numbers from Salesforce, not independent audits.
CX Today followed on 12 Sep with a closer look at TTEC Digital's first live Agentforce Contact Center customer, Compass Working Capital. TTEC said that go-live happened on 23 July, six weeks after formal kickoff, with Compass estimating about 6,000 staff hours saved a year. CX Today is careful: that hour figure is a customer estimate, not a measured post-launch result, and TTEC's August review of strategic alternatives for Digital makes ownership after go-live a procurement question.
Zendesk pushes specialist agents and live voice translation
Zendesk spent the week on two contact-center bets.
On 14 Sep it introduced Specialized Agents (Business Wire coverage here): Industry Agents that arrive ready for common work in a vertical, starting with commerce, and Custom Agents that teams build in Agent Builder around their own policies and systems. Zendesk says Industry Agents can automate up to 80% of workflows, that customers have already run more than 1 million Custom Agent executions within seven weeks of launch, and that some customers saw automated resolution rates rise about 10% after deployment. Those are Zendesk's figures. The agents can run in Zendesk or in Salesforce and ServiceNow environments, so buyers do not have to rip out the desk they already have.
On 10 Sep, Zendesk also announced Real-Time Voice Translation for Zendesk Contact Center: two-way translation on live calls so the customer and the agent can each stay in their preferred language. Zendesk cites its own research that voice is about 40% of contact center volume. The feature is built into Contact Center Native, with queue and recording controls for admins. A closed Early Access Program for eligible customers starts in October.

Twilio wired Agent Connect to OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 on 10 Sep. The SDK's GPTLiveProvider connects Twilio Voice Media Streams to the speech-to-speech model without custom WebSocket plumbing, aimed at production voice agents that need turn-taking, interruptions, and tool calls.
Talkdesk expanded its Microsoft partnership the same day so enterprises can buy Talkdesk Customer Experience Automation (CXA) against Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) spend through the Azure Marketplace. Talkdesk CXA has been listed there since September 2025; the news is the MACC path and consolidated Microsoft billing.
Observe.AI launched Performance Agents on 8 Sep. CMSWire reports the agents analyze conversations, assemble coaching plans, and leave final approval with supervisors. Observe.AI says preparation can drop under five minutes in applicable workflows, and the release adds leaderboards, an Agentic AI Coach Builder, and coaching-effectiveness reporting.
NiCE said on 8 Sep that AOK PLUS is live on its unified CX AI platform (Cognigy plus CXone), via Business Wire.
And the unfinished story from our 19 Aug issue closed just before this seven-day window, as the 7 Sep issue covered: SoundHound completed its acquisition of LivePerson on 4 Sep (SoundHound newsroom) and named John Collins CFO. CMSWire covered the close the same day. SoundHound says LivePerson messaging folds into OASYS, the combined customer base includes 25 of the Fortune 100, the IP portfolio is over 750 patents, LivePerson debt was retired at close, and the company is targeting more than $500 million in future revenue from the existing base. Those are SoundHound's claims. LivePerson common stock ceases trading on Nasdaq.
