Microsoft Dynamics 365 Contact Center Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS)

About Microsoft Dynamics 365 Contact Center

Microsoft has sold customer service software under the Dynamics 365 name for years, but Dynamics 365 Contact Center is its first full contact center as a service product. The company introduced it on June 4, 2024 and declared it generally available on July 1, 2024. In the launch blog, Microsoft called it a Copilot-first contact center solution and stressed that it works as a standalone product, so a business can keep Salesforce, ServiceNow, or a homegrown CRM and still run its voice and digital channels on Microsoft.

The platform combines omnichannel routing across voice, chat, SMS, social messaging, and email with AI that works on both sides of the conversation. Self-service bots are built in Copilot Studio. For human agents, Copilot drafts replies, summarizes cases, and surfaces knowledge. Microsoft now packages several named agents for the product, including Customer Assist, Quality Assurance, Service Operations, Customer Intent, and Customer Knowledge Management.

The underlying technology comes from Azure, the Nuance speech and conversational AI business Microsoft bought in 2022, Teams Phone for calling, and a catalog of more than 1,200 connectors. Early adopters quoted at launch included Lenovo, Synoptek, and AIA Group.

Gartner placed Microsoft in the Visionaries quadrant of its 2026 Magic Quadrant for CCaaS, published in October 2026, as the only vendor in that quadrant. Microsoft also announced Contact Center Intelligence for the product in October 2026.
